How to fix Captivate 6 Caption Text Black Background/Border Issue

Well, lately I have downloaded the Adobe captivate 6 to evaluate its HTML5 performance. I have chosen one of the available themes. I have inserted an image and text caption in a slide. When I publish this I have noticed that the caption text is distorted and a weird black background appeared around it.

It was a fresh installation of captivate 6 and I have hardly changed any default application settings. I have just created a simple page with image and text. So, is it too much to ask just this simple slide to appear properly??!

I have noticed two variants of this issue

  • If I move the text below template layout elements then text appear properly (like shown below)

The portion of text appears properly when moved below layout elements

  • If I add a background style for the caption text (default style is transparent) then text appeared properly but with a distorted black border around the caption (like shown below)

After googling for a while I have figured out that this has something to do with the slide compression settings.

To fix this issue navigate to Edit > Preferences

In the preferences choose the Project > SWF Size and Quality

Now uncheck the option Retain Slide Quality Settings (will be checked by default)

Now click ‘Ok’ to store the preferences and try to publish the content again. Now the text caption will appear fine at the output without any distortions.
